Compounded Thyroid

MORE THAN 12% OF THE U.S. POPULATION WILL DEVELOP A THYROID CONDITION IN THEIR LIFETIME.

The most common thyroid condition is hypothyroidism, which is caused by an underactive thyroid gland that cannot make enough thyroid hormone for the body’s needs. Many experience symptoms such as fatigue, increased sensitivity to cold, constipation, dry skin, weight gain, puffiness of the face, decreased metabolism, thinning hair, and elevated blood cholesterol levels.

Hormone Replacement Therapy

The treatment goal for thyroid hormone deficiencies is to closely replicate normal thyroid function as naturally as possible. While treatment with commercially available levothyroxine (T4) alone is the standard of care for hypothyroidism, not all patients respond well with the conventional treatment approach. Some practitioners also prescribe Liothyronine (T3) for patients who are not getting the desired outcomes with Levothyroxine (T4) alone. Compounded Bioidentical combination of T4 and T3 for many patients may be the best way to mimic the natural thyroid hormone effectively. These compounded preparations contain few fillers and inert ingredients, thus better suited for patients with sensitivities.

Advantages of Compounded Thyroid Medications

For patients who have sensitivities to fillers from commercial drugs, Central Drugs can create different strengths of Bioidentical T4, T3, and combination T4/T3 that is specialized and individualized to the needs of every patient.

  • We eliminate ingredients that may cause adverse reactions in certain patients with sensitivities by using dye-free, gelatin-free capsules.
  • Our compounded T4 and T3 are free from corn, gluten, soy, starch, and animal by-products that may be in the commercial products.
  • We can compound with Methylcellulose (E4M) - a special filler that slows down thyroid release from the GI tract.
